NVL loop, riding the car lane
 

Is it allowed or will the cops book you for that if they get you?

I know that the "peloton" race and ride that lane and get away with it but if your alone riding it and chance by cops, will they give you trouble for it?

my Vietnamese friend said that they can't any license from you but they might take your bike

Today, I rode alone, starting at 8:15am, I chose crazy scooter lane but since I am racing, I need to be comfortable with thíng cóntantly moving around me... and practice my motor pacing! =))

Jim, on Saturday I was riding the NVL in the truck lane and a funny thing happened. The cops were out in the truck lane pulling over trucks. I thought for sure we were busted. HOWEVER, they motioned for us (me and a big western guy) to go around the mess. Perhaps they are tolerant of road cycling or becuase we are foreigners they just leave us alone. Interesting.

That said, unless in the early hours, I still wouldn't ride the truck lane alone. But, that's me. Also, good drafting in teh scooter lane too!

I am sure that they were tolerant of road cycling (the worse scenario: you might get a word of warning!). Although they do not encourage or stop us riding in the 4-wheels lane, for our own safety, I would not recommend that to anyone unless you were in the early hours and the traffic was light. In my opinion, it's safer out there on these lanes when you are riding with the peloton otherwise you would be in the blind spot all the time and any accident caused by other road users would affect your safety.

Tina it's simple if the cops can speak English well they will be out there to get ya!!

Really.... I prefer to believe that they just enjoy the beauty of cycling.... Please don't misunderstand my meaning.(I don't think you do)... I love Vietnam and have been treated VERY well here!!!
